What is Ability to Benefit?

Ability to Benefit is a federal financial aid rule that allows students without a high school diploma or GED to qualify for financial aid if you prove you have the "ability to benefit" from a college education while you are earning your high school diploma or GED.

College Readiness

  • Are you 1-3 months out from completing your GED?

  • Have you passed 2-3 of your GED tests including Reading Through Language Arts?

  • Do you have good attendance?

  • Are you motivated to start college?
