Community Interpreter Training (Online, Attendance Required)

Spring session | March 4 - June 17 | Enrollment is closed

Part I: 30-hour ESL Preparation Course (ONLINE)

March 4 - April 10 | Mondays & Wednesdays 6-9 pm | No class April 1 and 3

Part II: 40-hour Interpreter Training Course (ONLINE)

April 15 - June 17 | Mondays (5-9 pm) ZOOM

This 40-hour Interpreter course satisfies regional customer requirements for training interpreters providing services at schools, community events, public meetings, and social and governmental agencies.

This is a nationally known course taught in many states.

Prerequisite: CASAS L&W Reading 211B+ (High Intermediate ESL +)

Hospital Housekeeping (Online, Attendance Required)

Fri | 9:00am to 12:00pm

Winter Session | Jan 19 - March 15 | Enrollment is closed

Prepare for a career as an Environmental Services Aide at a local hospital.

  • Housekeeping and light manual work in the care and cleaning of patient rooms, halls, work areas, office and other facilities

  • Receive your OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen training.

  • Learn vocabulary and duties of the job to be successful at the workplace and pass mandatory trainings tests.

Boiler Operator License (In-Person Only, Attendance Required)

Tue. & Thur. | 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Winter Session | Jan 16 - Mar 21, 2024 | Enrollment is closed

Boiler operators are technicians who specialize in the maintenance and repair of boiler equipment and rooms.

Job duties are:

  • Operate and maintain boilers.

  • Perform compression and safety tests.

  • Water sampling and treatment.

  • Carry out preventative maintenance.

  • Perform pipe repairs.

  • Replace worn parts as required.

Gain job training and prepare for the Boiler Operator’s Specialist License exam. This is a high demand career. Hopkins Public Schools is our employer partner and trainer.

Medical Terminology (Online, Attendance Required)

  • Study the human body and how it works.

  • Earn 2 credits in Med Term towards:

    • Hennepin Technical College Health Unit Coordinator (1-year Program) OR

    • Medical Assistance (2-year Program)

Prerequisite: CASAS L&W Reading 221C+, GOALS Reading 217B+ (Advanced ESL/ABE)

Nursing Assistant Prep (Online)

Saturday | 9:00am to 12:00pm

Fall Session | Oct 7 - Dec 16, 2023 | Enrollment is closed

Nursing Assistant Prep is for adults who want to prepare for the college-level nursing training course.

  • Train for college-level nursing assistant courses

  • Introduction to certification skills and becoming a nursing assistant

  • Learn basic medical terminology, health, nutrition, and safety vocabulary

  • Explore critical nursing assistant tasks, skills, and challenges

  • Course includes a CareerForce visit and a visit to (or a speaker from) a nursing home

  • CPR/FIRST AID Training (9am - 1pm Dec 16)
